I researched the role of the internet in the music industry and more specifically in the pop music industry to uncover the relationship between the music industry and the internet. This will allow me to effectively harness the internet for my own project in order to create a fully converged and synergised brand identity which engages and appeals my target audience. This reserach will also show me the codes and conventions of using the internet in the music industry, helping me to use these in my own project in order to adhere to conventions of the industry and also adhere to genre conventions.

My research was very useful as it showed me how artists use the internet and the importance of synergy across multiple platforms to establish a clear brand identity. It also showed me the benefits of digital convergence and using multiple platforms in order to increase audience reach and appeal, thus targeting the largest audience possible online. For my own project, I will use my website and multiple social media sites in order to create a synergised and carefully constructed internet presence across several platforms.
